About Rev. Bill
A New Chapter of Ministry Begins
This September, I begin a new congregational ministry serving Heritage Universalist Unitarian Church. I can’t begin to describe my gratitude for the journey that brought me here — to serve a place I have called my spiritual home for a third of a century.
Together with the wonderful folks of this Anderson Township congregation, we will continue striving to live out our values as we work toward a more just world for everyone.

Recently Ordained
With humility and gratitude, I accepted my ordination by two congregations that I love dearly. In a ceremony at Heritage Universalist Unitarian Church, I was ordained by that congregation along with the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lexington. Feeling immensely blessed!

Whew!
It’s true! After 5 1/2 years of study and introspection, I graduated from Meadville Lombard Theological School with a Master of Divinity degree (MDiv) in May of 2025.
It’s been an amazing journey.
I’m filled with gratitude for the professors, classmates, family, and friends who have supported me in this quest.
Emerging Faith Leader
Hello, I’m Rev. Bill Lyon, a lifelong learner, spiritual seeker, and emerging faith leader. I earned a Master of Diviinity Degree from Meadville Lombard Theological School and am in preliminary fellowhip with the UUA.
I served two years as the Intern Minister at The Unitarian Universalist Church of Lexington, Kentucky.
The last year has brought new connections in interfaith dialogue and working for social justice.
What is Next ?
I am filled with excitement, like a kid in a candy store, because there are so many interesting paths ahead of me. I intend to be involved in both congregational and community ministry.
I am also open to new and unexpected opportunities. Having been an entrepreneur my entire adult life, the concept of “entrepreneurial ministry” really speaks to me.
Experience
As I continue my journey towards becoming an ordained minister, I believe that we all serve as ministers to each other and to the world. I think that the wisdom and skills needed for this come from our lived experiences.
For me, this includes my career in helping people identify what matters most to them and aligning their resources with it. As a lay leader, I have also experienced many aspects of congregational life and leadership. life and leadership.
My Next Step
After 39 years in a career that I love, and that has been a “ministry” of sorts, I am ready to embark on a new path. Many thanks to all who have supported me on this journey.
Let’s get serious about building Beloved Community together!
